| Well, I don't know how many on this group are living in Ireland, but since there is no closer local newsgroup and just on the off chance that somebody knows: I am guilty of the usual beginners mistake and the first tank I bought was a 15L bottle. I love it on deeper dives, but it breaks my back in and out of the boat and it's way to much for shallow dives. Where can I get 10 or 12L bottles in Ireland for a good price, even second hand if needs be? Cheers, Marcus |

| Hi Marcus Where abouts in Ireland? Try Aquaholics - they sell bottles and sometimes have secondhand - and they deliver free throughout the country. the address is www.aquaholics.org - i buy from they and find Richard very good to deal with. | Whatever you do, DON'T get a 'dumpy' shaped 12L cylinder. There are two shapes of 12L cylinder, the short type (called 'dumpy') has the same diameter as your 15L cylinder, the longer type has the same diameter as a 10L cylinder but is the same length as the 15L. If you get the dumpy you will find that when you try to sit down you will tend to fall backwards as the bottom of the cylinder is nowhere near your bottom. Even more importantly, if in the future you decide, as many divers do, that a manifolded twin-set of cylinders is essential for deeper and longer dives, especially to have sufficient gas to support your buddy in an OOG situation, then the longer 12L cylinder is an ideal size and you will only then need to buy a matching cylinder, isolator manifold and bands; saving you having to sell the dumpy and replacing it (I know, I've been there!). Dumpy 12L cylinders are only any good if you are 5ft tall or less. Regards, TonyH. This has been discussed previously - Some people love dumpies - others hate them Best thing is to try both out and see which you prefer before you buy. |

| Hi Marcus, I live and dive in Ireland and have bought a few bottles for people over the last couple of years. I shopped around the local dive shops and the online ones, and the cheapest I came up with was to order them over the web from go-dive - I did get them delivered to Northern Ireland which saved a few quid though. Id say have a look at the prices and add postage etc to see if its worth it still. Apart from that, Richard in Aquaholics is the cheapest to the best of my knowledge, na dhe is indeed good to deal with. I'd like to say that I buy all of my gear locally, but I can't afford to! | Marcus, Try www.scubaireland.com. That's the CFT (Irish Underwater Council) web site. I think they have links to various dive shops. Michael. Pedant mode "off" I know, I'm a picky old git, but for the past 2 months I've been trying to read work from students that appear to only know how to write in text. Some of them really struggle with written communication. Pete S. |
