| you know what I think will be the main problem for me? Being afraid of cold and darkness. That is why I want to do this. In normal "on the surface" life I do not have this fears, but when I think about cold water or darkness below me.... I like to scare myself :P |

| It all depends how you want to go about it. Basically you have two choices, either the PADI way or through CMAS/CFT . If you just want to do the occasional diving and your not into forking out a wad of cash for diving gear then go the PADI route. There's a few centres around Dublin that do course at various times of the year. Flagship Scuba, The Great Outdoors, Discover Scuba and Ocean Divers are all PADI centres I'm in a CMAS/CFT diving club in South Dublin. The way it works is that most clubs take on new trainees at the start of the year and over a number of weeks go through all the lectures and pool training. In our club this process is nearly complete with most trainees doing their first dive over the Easter weekend. If you want to do regular diving and if you think you'll stick at it then go the CMAS/CFT route. Initially it is expensive buying your own gear but after that it works out pretty reasonable. I just checked out the CFT website as I knew they were running a special two day trainee theory programme but unfortunately this has just finished. Get in touch with one of your local clubs and maybe the instructors will help you out.
