Default Diving in Western Australia

Hi all

I will be diving the Ningaloo Reef, Busselton Jetty and HMAS Swan in
November. If you have any recommendations of dive operators for these
areas, or advice in general I would appreciate hearing it. For example,
would I be better diving the reef from Exmouth or Coral Bay, and what water
temps can I expect for these dives at that time of year?

Thanks in advance.

Mark in Sydney

I've dived all the places you mention. There are trip reports on my
website. On the Exmouth versus Coral Bay question, I think Exmouth
generally has better diving. It's not so weather dependant because there
are other sites than the Ningaloo reef such as the Muiron island. Coral
Bay is a nice place to stay though.

More good advice. Thanks Michael. And thanks for clarifying about that
"Mark, and Gary R Schmidt" thing too, from another post.

Cheers

Mark

Default Kid friendly GBR Liveaboard

I want to take my wife on a liveaboard diving trip to the Great Barrier
Reef.
We have a five year old son (a little too young for his dive cert).
Are there any liveaboard boats that we can all go on holiday together?
Does anyone else have experience or recommendations of how to have a diving
holiday if you both want to dive and take the kid/s?
Thanks, John E.

I would have thought that a liveaboard wouldnt really be compatible with a
young tyke. There would not be much for the child to do, and you would be
forever watching over your shoulder to ensure he hasnt gone over the side.
I dont think too many liveaboards would handle babysitting either.

You could try something like what I am currently organising for my family -
I am taking them to Vanuatu and staying at a resort there which has a kid's
club and plenty of other activities. That way they are occupied during the
day which releases me to dive and the missus to relax !

I would have thought that somewhere like Coral Bay would be better. Unlike
the GBR, the dives aren't that far out, so they're all short trips, though
the diving is no worse for it.

The rest of the family can stay in resort and it's a nice beach, though
there's not a lot else there.

Heh, I see you are really looking after the family
They must love your company whilst on holiday ??
OTOH perhaps the arrangements could be mutual
