Imperial or metric??

My neighbor who borrows occasional kit to dive .. only talks about psi, feet
and °F .......... old style BSAC guy.

No octopus, no dive plan ... always takes a speargun, and will put anything
that moves in his catch bag ... no matter how small.

Dives saw tooth profiles ... will fin along at surface or a few meters down,
then when he sees fish or a likely hole for lobsters down he goes ...

We were discussing buddying up for a dive, and the practice of coming up
with 50 bar ........ his comment was he was not coming up until his air was
used, he cue will be when it starts getting hard to breathe !
He also mentioned that frequently if he can see something he likes but it's
getting hard to breathe he will rise up a bit, which will allow him to get a
lungful and then go back down for a lobster or whatever.

He also likes getting through a couple of tanks on a days diving, doesn't
worry about DCS .... he sees a case of the itchies as something that goes
with his sport.


Looked at his contents gauge last week ... commented that it looked a tad
old ... when I looked close, it's a national Coal Board air pressure gauge !
Can't be many people diving with old NCB gauges attached to their kit !
