Default Izu Oshima, Japan

Can anyone give me some information on diving at Izu Oshima, japan?
I'm going to be there for a few days next week and would like to do a
dive or two. I can't seem to find any current information on dive
shops, locations, conditions, etc.

TIA

Mike, why will you be on Izu Oshima?

Send me mail, I can't send mail from my newsreader program. You can
also give me a ring. Doing a google search will bring up my web site
and cell phone number.

Current dive conditions... well, after Typhoon No. 15 passed, things
have calmed down here but things are usually stirred up for a few days
after a typhoon passes. Vis was 1-5 meters yesterday.

Here is the latest info (in Japanese):

http://www.wni.co.jp/cww/docs/typh_a.html

In Atami, we had 10-15 meters vis, water temp 22 degrees on Saturday
before the typhoon got close. I wore a 5 mm 1 piece suit and hood and
was fine, just cold on the boat ride back and getting out.

BTW, I don't know any dive services on Izu Oshima with staff who can
speak English (except one dive NAUI instructor/dive guide I dove with a
long long time ago), how is your Japanese? Will you bring your own
equipment?
