Maldives resorts with a decent attitude and a nearby house reef?

The island we visited last year was top notch - a decent attitude
toward their guests (minimal nuisance charges e.g. for water, decent
restarurant, all-round nice people), a great dive shop, a close-by
house reef, etc. etc. Nothing to complain about. We'd be on our way
there again except they decided to sell all their accommodations to a
European agency. I tried to go through them, but haven't heard back
and it's been a while, so I think they have their own agenda.

So any suggestions for a friendly little resort would be most
appreciated.

Not everyone dives, so snorkel possibilities are a plus.

Having a nearby house reef is a great plus.

Dive shop should be professional and friendly.

Hotel should be nice, professional, friendly.

It's easy to read about resorts in the Maldives (and everywhere else)
that are bad, and I suppose if you get a good one you don't
necessarily want to tell everybody on the planet, but I'd be grateful
for any suggestions.
