| Calypso Divers in Gozo's website says that you need a dive medical certificate "which states that the person has been certified fit for scuba diving by a medical doctor, preferably a doctor who has studied diving medicine. " Has this been relaxed to allow BSAC self Cetification or is it still enforced? | I was in Gozo in August last year diving with Gozo Aquasports. All of us bar one in the group had current diving medicals, signed off by our own GP's. The one person that didn't was having her medical done on arrival in Gozo. However, when we got there, she was told that it was no longer a requirement and she didn't need to have it done.... And had a fantastic week diving some fantastic sights - Cathedral caves - amazing. Climb down hard work, but the dive more than makes up for it.... Hope this helps. How can it be valid worldwide when different countries have completely different standards? And different lengths of time for medical validity. I believe it's still required. I had mine done when I was younger (ie. 17 I think, or maybe even 16) and IIRC that lone lasts either 5 or 10 years, but if you have it done when you're older it lasts 3 years and if you're old (40 IIRC - that's going to upset some people) then they only last one year. It's some complicated system like that. Oh and if you're going to Gozo the Calypso's great. Alun Harford |

Just tell them you need a medical & they will usually arrange a it for the morning of your 1st dive. Mine cost LM3 HTH Nige |
