Paradise diving - they taught me (1999), I've been hooked ever since.

Not strictly a recommendation as I've never dived with them, but I will be
working for Aquaventure over the summer.

I did OW (referral) & AOW with these people. They were great at fitting
in exactly what I needed around a very tight schedule.

PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Center
http://www.buddiesmalta.com/

Because it's fairly small, many of the dive schools will pick you up
from anywhere on the island - and they'll take you diving anywhere
around the island too.

Book the holiday yourself (some great deals can be had) and book the
diving separately. They were happy to chat via email before I arrived
and I didn't pay until the end of the course.

Of course, if the hotel you stay in has a dive school, that may be too
convenient to ignore! Mine did, but they couldn't fit OW+AOW into my
tight schedule and I was fairly set on doing both.
