This question was asked about a week ago, and I haven't seen an answer yet.
Maybe I missed it.

OK. We've all had our fun with the question. The answer is Cozumel.
There are other good places, but Cozumel is the best. Now we can fight
over our favorite hotels and dive ops. I'll go with Villa Blanca and
Dive Paradise. Again, we can fight over the details, but you won't go
wrong anywhere on the island.

Just my professional opinion.

Only on the Atlantic side!

No need. There are at least a dozen good dive ops and almost as many
hotels. What's good for the goose is not necessarily good for the
gander ... One man's meat is another man's poison ... etc. etc.

Villa Blanca would not make the top 10 Cozumel hotel list of many.
Dive Paradise is certainly one of the top dozen.

Just exactly what IS your profession?

I am reading this thread a bit late -- too busy with Christmas
activities
and festivities. But the questioner was impatient about the Atlantic
side and Pacific side of Mexico.

On the Atlantic side, Cozumel wins hands down.

On the Pacific side, some may argue that the gulf near La Paz would
be the favorite for big animals on certain times of the year.

But I recall some "interesting" dives in Acapulco in the late 1980s.
For the beer-drinking goats (of either the two-legged or four-legged
kind), Acapulco has Cozumel beat, hands down!
