| We are beginners to snorkeling--a family w/ 5 kids, limited budget. We'll get a couple of decent adults and kid snorkel sets (mask, snorkel, fins), and drive to Puerto Penasco in two weeks. Only thing is, I'm wondering where to start when we get there. I've read in this group that for diving, Puerto Penasco is pretty grim--variable visibility and not worth it when San Carlos is further south a few hours. But I have heard that there are fantastic tide pools in Puerto Penasco, but I don't know if this is good or bad news when you're a beginner with a budget snorkel kit. Any advice would be helpful. As it is now, I envision parking the car, getting me and the kids in our flippers and such, and walking onto the same beach where people are swimming. I don't know where else to start. And I'm guessing this isn't the best way to introduce kids to snorkeling. Nick in Phoenix. |
