Those are very different places; the Reef is a far south, expensive AI
resort, and the SCC is practically in town and cheap. I have heard some
less than enthusiastic reports on the food at the Reef, and it's a long
cab ride to town.

Have you considered Caribe Blu?

Stayed a week at SCC last October, going back this October. It's an
all-inclusive, but not drinks - meaning you get 3 meals a day included. SCC
is a bit spartan in the rooms, but clean. No TV or phones in the room, but
they are A/C'd and have a small fridge. Bottled water is provided on every
floor and pitchers are provided so you can keep it cold in the fridge.

Food is pretty good - certainly not gourmet, but you won't go hungry. DMs
were great - good briefings, not too over-bearing. Nice pool and sea-side
hammocks for relaxing. Rooms typically have a smallish balcony looking out
to the water. Boat dock, tanks and plenty of lockers. Scuba shop for "stuff"
across the street, though you might have to go into town if you need
anything fancy. Only about two blocks from a large "K-Mart" style store with
food, wine/beer/liquors and anything from bathing suits to stereos - very
convenient.

ALWAYS use the bottled water - even for brushing your teeth - even the
natives do. Ice made at the resort (and elsewhere as far as we could tell),
salads, etc. are all washed with bottled water - none of our group had any
problems from the water.

Looking at it right now. Carol wants an AI (but also wants to eat in
town, go figure). Looks like a good price, what do people think of
Blue Angel?

Reef Club has a real beach. Are you limited to in-house dive op or
does that matter?

SCC was where I stayed on my first trip to Coz. Have not been back
because I prefer different dive shops and AI is not my preference. No
doubt you will find many who love SCC.

I don't know about Caribe Blu other then the owner of blue Angel ownes
it. I have used Blue Angel several times over the past 5 years and
have nothing but good thing to say about them. Will take you where
ever you want to go and will not make you come up with the group. You
stay down until you get to 750-500 psi. I love them and will only use
them.

Is this the same place that used to be called Costa Club? Did they get rid
of their concrete beds?

I think Costa Club was at one time Fiesta Inn.

Have you looked at Allegro? I personally don't like AIs but we did stay
there two years ago because we had a non-diving friend along. It was nice
for what it was. We still went into town every night for dinner.
