| I have been there three times. This resort was great about 8 years ago, but it has not been well managed. I was there last year, and our room was not so great. The dive shop within the resort is good and easy to use. Ask for a room close to the dive shop. You would be able to run to your room between the dives, which is nice. Dive is always great in Cozumel. You will have fun. I am leaving to Iberostar tonight. I heard this resort is newer and more updated. |

YOu have to wave your arms around in the middle of the night since it is motion sensitive and will turn off if there is no movement in the room. |

Blow up a balloon and hang from a string in front of the AC. |

We had a downstairs room that was in the building closest to the dive shop (Dive Paridise). The buildings have about 8 units each. The buildings behind us (on the south side of the resort) were being remodeled. Noise was not a problem. Our building had been remodeled. Our room had a king sized bed, adequate storage space, and cable tv w/ CNN (we watched the presidential debates). There is a patio that has a table and chairs and a hammock which we used to hang our wet suits and booties from. There were some hooks in the bathroom that we could hang our bc's from. From our room it was just a short walk to the beach and dive dock. We had done some research before we left looking at prices and chose to dive with Papa Hogs. Their rates came to about $50 per tank while other dive shops wanted about $60 per tank. The shop at the Allegro would not rent tanks to do night dives to us. If you dive with them they will provide free shore tanks but there is nothing but sand to see. Papa Hogs was great. The dive sites are so close to the Allegro that we just got our gear stored before we arrived at the dock. The biggest complaint that I have about the Allegro was the food. While the presentation of the food (especially the deserts) was excellent, the food was pretty bland. The Allegro would do much better in offering local type Mexican food. We ate hamburgers almost every day. The did have barbeque - ribs and chicken a couple of times. The ribs were tasteless - lack of barbeque sauce, but the chicken was very good. They had Corona on tap and a variety of mixed drinks. The mixed drinks did not seem to have much alcohol in them. If you want booze in your drinks, order a shot with your drink and add it to your drink. The shot booze comes from a different bottle. If you plan to go into town much, I'd suggest that you consider renting a jeep. As I recall, a taxi to town was $11 each way. A taxi to the airport was $15. |
