| My wife and I are going back to Cozumel in May. Inasmuch as Plaza Las Glorias still isn't open and may become all inclusive, what other places are w/i walking distance of downtown and have beach access? We've been there about 10 times, but since we've always stayed at PLG, we've never visited any of the other places. Casa Mexicana is a nice looking place, but our friends stayed there last month and said it was a bit sterile. Any suggestions? -Mark |

| Hotel Cozumel (formerly Brisas, and lots of other names) was nice the two times I've stayed there. It comes as all inclusive or without meals. I've always liked going into town. Maybe the food is better there now with the change in management/name. |

| Any one stayed at the Vista Del Mar near Casa Mexicana or Hacienda Miguel on the north side of the square? | Paul, I've stayed in Cozumel about 10 times before. The Iberostar is too far from town for us. We really enjoy bar hopping at night and would rather walk back to our room to freshen up for the next day. However, if you are driving, and you have a car that the odometer actually works, maybe you could do this for me.....what is the actual distance from the town square to what was Plaza las Glorias (one your right as you head south on the main beach road) and what is the distance from the town square to the Coral Princess just north of town and on your left?. We really want to stay ocean front, but w/i a nice walk of downtown. PS: If you like Iberostar, you should check out El Presidente. It's a wonderful hotel. We stayed there as well. Again, it's simply too far our for us. Thanks "Paul K. The distance from PLG to town is exactly 10 minutes walking, plus or minus 5 minutes. Hope that helps. |

Did the Hacienda a few months ago. Nicely located, large rooms, beautifully landscaped center courtyard, and an excellent staff. In addition, they bring you a beautiful breakfast of fresh brewed coffee, fruit juice, and wonderfully fresh sweet rolls every morning when you request it. You can find less expensive accomodations but, for the money, it's an excellent value. It's a bit off the path as far as where many of the dive ops are located, but I didn't find that to be a problem. Highly recommended. Of course, the diving was great in Coz. Did the "Devil's Throat" at Punta Sur for the first time. Way cool. We're headed back this summer. |

| Re: Cozumel. Just a bit further south of Plaza las Glorias on the beach side of the road is Scuba Club Cozumel, which my family and I have returned to quite a few times. The food is great, the service is great, and they run a great dive operation with unlimited shore dives. They are also much further away from the cruise ship pier as well as the traffic noise is much lower. The hotel has good security because it has a gated entrance that has a doorman. http://www.scubaclubcozumel.com/ -- Ewin |
