| We are going to cancun for our honeymoon next month and was hoping to get reccomendations for who to dive through. We have looked online and have no idea how good companys are. We have had bad experiences with dive operators in Hawaii and do not want that again. We are going ot do a 4 or 5 day package and do not want to be disapointed. Some companys we have looked at their web sites are manta divers, diablo divers, cancun divers. There are so many .Any reccomendations would be apprecialted |

Recommendation: Take the ferry over to Cozumel at least one day. Recommendation #2: Honeymoon somewhere else. |

I was impressed with Scuba Cancun in that they wouldn't let me make a rather expensive cave dive on my first ocean scuba trip due to lack of experience. Though I was disappointed at the time, looking back, I appreciate that they weren't just looking to make a buck by allowing me to put myself at risk. The downside is that they are on the lagoon side, which means an extra 20 minute or so boat ride to get to the reefs. Solo Buceo is/was the contracted shop for the hotel that I was staying at. The Dive Masters that they had on staff a few years ago were great and catered to the newer divers. Those of us with more experience (this was a few years after the first Scuba Cancun trip), were led by another DM. They are also on the ocean side, so the trips to the reefs are much quicker. Both had smaller boats, and I don't think I ever dived with more than 10 people on each boat, if that many. I agree with someone else who said to take the ferry over to Cozumel on day. I think most of the scuba operators in Cancun can arrange a trip with all transportation. I booked one of these through Scuba Cancun one year and they took care of all transportation to and from the hotel down to Playa, the ferry ride over, and lunch after the dives. Two years ago, this was about $125US for two tanks in Coz. I'm sure you can do better, but this was extremely convenient. Okay, I'll stop typing now. |
