Joe, Cozumel and its operators appreciate your support. It is not too soon
to come- if you can get a flight. Within the next two weeks, those hotels
that have not yet opened downtown, will be open. Virtually all the hotels on
the water and especially south of town experienced serious damage including
loss of piers making it impossible to load/unload. Aldora Pier downtown is
functional although damaged. It is within walking distance to many downtown
hotels. Right now, for your wife, shopping will be limited. The cruise
ships are due to begin docking in Cozumel Nov 14; however, it is unrealistic
to expect all the waterfront shops to be open.

Re: diving in Cozumel and some comments that were made in other posts. For
the most part, you can expect diving on the tables although most divers
*wear* computers. When your dive master says "ok, this dive we're going to
80 ft for 30 min," he/she is essentially diving the tables. It is a typical
dive here- wham, bam, thank you ma'am. Most, but not all, operators conduct
the dives this way- it is mostly a function of economics. Although uncommon,
there are operators that accommodate heavy breathers or handle them in such a
way that these divers do not dictate the length or profile of the dive.
Finally, when surfacing or separating from a group, please keep in mind that
safety is the most important aspect that should not be taken for granted.

Safe diving to you and best regards!

I was dam grateful that someone like me pointed me to the site where I

gave the other guys site so someone could get it there if they felt

I'm trying to do is help someone else here save a few bucks. I can
always sell mine to the other guys site. You have no knowledge or
right to accuse me of being a spammer.

When we went with Sand Dollar at the Reef Club for a week after the
first day of seeing who was good on air they split my 4 and 2 others
that were good on air into one group so we could get more bottom time.
I was impressed with this.

Here's a cool site I ran across today. It seems to have it all. Before,

Joe,

I love Cozumel and have spent many vacations diving there. Plaza Glorius is
no longer a hotel, but now a condo. I wouldn't stay there anyway.

If you want to see what's available, give Al at Bay Adventures a call. They
are located in Florida and have many properties. Their website is
www.bayadventures.com

One week we spent there, we rented a home close to the supermarket. It is
called Casa Carlita. http://www.cozumel-rental.com/

Not on the water, but it is on a side street. I haven't been there for
several years, but when we were there maid service was included in the very
reasonable rent. Unless you stay in the Day's Inn, this will be a very
inexpensive home to rent.

I'd recommend that you get a rental car, we always rent the Jeep from Avis.
Diving, I recommend Dive with Martin.

All diving in Cozumel is drift diving so you don't even have to bone up on
your navigation! The captain will follow your bubbles.

I've been diving for over 40 years and this is on my short list of places to
go to.

Hope you have a great vacation!

One other suggestion. Take your wife to the square in the center of town and
feed the Mariachies mucho pasos and they will play for you all night! The
food is great, the people are great, the diving is great.

You haven't done any beach diving, then. It kind of helps to know
where you are unless you plan to take the taxi to the dive site or
take a taxi back to the hotel.

You been going for 40 years and still don't know any Spanish? It's a
