Cost should be less than 10$ (don't remember well). The ride takes less than hour (say approx. 40min) From Bus stop in Playa del Carmen you will have to walk some 100-200yards carrying your stuff to the ferry terminal, which is the biggest problem I think. It would be the same if you take a taxi, so no sence to spend money on it in my opinion (ok. may be you want to be 10min earlier). Ferry is again each hour or even each 30min and again another less thna 10$ if my memory is correct. The ride is approx. 40min again. From Ferry terminal in Cozumel you will have to take a taxi (should be approx. 5$ if you are not going to the far end of the island). BR Shrek |

Cost using the ADO bus and ferry about $19 each way ($8 for bus and 110 pesos for ferry). Do not buy a roundtrip ticket on the ferry since they seem to alternate hours every other day between the two ferry companies. Bus transit time about 50 minutes and ferry about 35 minutes. http://tinyurl.com/7m3r6 I don't believe that the puddlejumper from Cancun to Cozumel is operating but I could be wrong. Taxi fare to southern hotels is in the $15-20 range each way. Ron Lee |

| Thanks for all the replies. Ron, the site is quite helpful. Looks like we would save about $300 each but now we will have to subtract the additional costs and time and see what is the best value. Thanks again. On Sat, 26 Aug 2006 03:39:15 GMT, nospamronlee@pcisys.net (Ron Lee) wrote: >Lots of slightly wrong info in these responses. Use the following >link for better info. | It's actually worth doing once. We went to Cancun for a business trip and then took the ferry out of Playa Del Carmen to go diving in Cozumel. The taxi ride from Cancun is about 45 minutes and you get a feel for the Mexican system along the coast. Once in Playa del Carmen, lots of shops and food. The shops and food, imho, are better than over at Cozumel. The ferry ride is quick enough. I would only do this once. Lugging gear from where you buy your ferry ticket to where the ferry is docked is about 3 blocks. 3 blocks of uneven road (brick pavers, etc.). A real hassle. So I fly direct to Cozumel. The extra time and effort was worth it only once for the experience. Now that I have the experience, I won't repeat it.... not worth it. | Thanks, a friend found a shuttle that runs from the airport to ferry for $45 RT. He is sending me the info. I will post it when I get it.
