| If you can get to Cozumel and do something on short notice, read on. We booked two rooms at the Park Royal in Cozumel this December but because friends had to cancel late, can now use only one. Since it's too late for much of a refund we thought this was worth a try. Someone could get a great deal, and we won't lose as much $$. The Park Royal is an all-inclusive resort. Wonderful beach, georgous pool, beautiful grounds and excellent for divers since dive-boats pick you up right at the resort. Since we had to book on a double occupancy basis, we are just looking to recoup some of our lost $$ from all-inclusive fees and the late cancellation. Here are the particulars ... THE DATES: 12/3/04 - 12/10/04, (Saturday to Saturday). Stay all or part of the week. Dates are not adjustable beyond the 3rd through 10th. THE PRICE: $580 ... for everything, and that's everything. WHAT YOU GET: A room overlooking the waters of the Caribbean. Two double beds, mini bar, etc. ALL meals and snacks, all day long. ALL drinks, all day long, including beer & alcohol. Full access to all reort activities, restaurants, facilities, etc. That's it. You just need to get there. I have been to the island many times, dive there regularly and would be happy to give you tips, info, etc. If you want to check out the resort here's their web site ... http://www.cozumel-hotels.net/park-royal/ Kevin Raleigh, NC |

Not as much as it sucks to have to drive 9.5 hours round-trip when you're already having to cancel the trip's ocean dives due to weather. I'm leaving my gear at home and am headed to the Everglades instead to wrestle an alligator. If Grumman cancels out on you, I advise kicking his ass. (You're not out any money, are you, due to the loss of my august presence? If so, I'd be happy to reimburse you. I don't leave friends holding the bag.) |

I'm having a little trouble finding all my stuff after the last move, but I'll be there even if I have to buy the missing things once I get there... I'm leaving on Saturday morning, should be ready to dive with Curtis at Ginnie on Sunday, and down to Paradise Springs for the dive on Monday... From there, I'll tow my boat southward and dive the whole fuckin' Florida coat... Doug's not going to be able to make it, so I guess I'll be diving alone... If you're still around that week, we can go out on some of the near shore dives in my boat if you're interested... It's not that large -- basically big enough for two divers plus their gear... |

Nope, I'm headed back on Tuesday. But I'll make sure to piss in the water before I go so it will stay nice and warm for you. I'm sure there are lots of dives we can check out in New Orleans, so see you in Feb. Have fun. Don't anger Curtis (he's very sensitive about, er, you know . . .) |

It's only 260 miles from here to Vortex Springs... Hmmm... That number kind of sounds familiar... Of course, I could let you dive one of the swamps... <evil-grin> |

But the mosquitos will probably bite more. I'll have to ask Lee how long it really takes, I can make Islamorada from here faster than that, and I guarantee I drive slower than you do. > If Grumman cancels out on you, I advise kicking his ass. Suspect Grumman, Lee & Dave won't have that worry. Also suspect your ears will be sizzling. > (You're not out any money, are you, due to the loss of my august presence? > If so, I'd be happy to reimburse you. I don't leave friends holding the > bag.) Nope, other than I'm taking Monday off work. We were planning to do a dive like this anyway, but on a weekend. Just hope we have enough warm bodies to satisfy the site owner, he's normally closed on Mondays. Curtis |

In any event, I'm reading how he never lets a friend down . . ..so I guess I'll see you guys in the spring . . Greg's paying. Only seems fair, it being my birthday and all. |

| "Greg Mossman" wrote > If Grumman cancels out on you, I advise kicking his ass. Might not be a good idea. If you look back, you'll note that he's one of those that believes in the right to bear arms. The best breaking technique I've ever seen is not a match for a well placed bullet. Lucky for everybody that Curtis isn't one to have such problems. As big as he is, it might take several shots just to slow him down a bit. >> (You're not out any money, are you, due to the loss of my august >> presence? If so, I'd be happy to reimburse you. You owe a bundle. We'll collect next time you're around for diving, perhaps even this time while you're over for whatever you're over for. You'll be hard pressed to actually wrestle an alligator unless, of course, you're foolish enough to take on a wild one. I have photos of Jayna pulling one our of the pit for a Seminole to wrestle, but, for some reason, they don't allow that any more. The probably had a problem of some kind. From Ft. Lauderdale, you can find a reasonably priced and interesting Everglades experience at Holiday Park. Head west on Griffin and keep going until you cross US 27. You'll run right into the place. You can also pay a visit to the Seminole Hard Rock Cafe Hotel and Casino, but you may not find the net experience all that reasonably priced. > Just hope we have enough warm bodies to satisfy the site owner, he's > normally closed on Mondays. At 68 to 72 degrees, depending on whether you believe my computer or the propaganda, there aren't likely to be many warm bodies present. I'm tolerant of cold, but that doesn't mean I don't notice it. I still have to get my wetsuit out and test my buoyancy in fresh water. I'll do that later today. I have not been in fresh water since before I switched to a plate and wing. I did, however, get my tanks visualed and filled with 32%, so I think I'm pretty much ready to go. Should I bring my snorkel? Do I need a redundant one? Is it possible to dive in fresh water with a style of fins other than Jet Fins or does something nasty happen if you try? Do I have to have a canister light for the open water portion of a sinkhole? Will I be excluded from diving because I have a D ring on both sides of my waist belt .. . . because I have a knife on both sides too, one of which has a point on it? How about because I don't have a crotch strap of, shudder, because I use a computer, maybe two? I'm partly OK on lights, I have two Scouts as required. Actually, I have a few serious questions, but I'll put them in a separate post. Lee |
