I'm leaving for Cozumel Saturday (12/4/04) for a week and was wondering what you guys considered the 5 or 6 best dives in Cozumel. I've done some *I* considered outstanding, but wondered if there were others I missed. Also, anyone going to be on the island next week, and interested in meeting for a drink, let me know.

They're all good for one reason or another. Sometimes one particular site will be your favorite and the next time you go there it will be "blah." I like Santa Rosa Wall, Palancar Tunnels and particularly shore diving between El Cid and Casa del Mar. The latter has so much stuff, especially after dark. Dives are long because it's shallow. You can go clear out to Paradise Reef (the north end of it) from there. Sorry I can't join you for a Diet Pepsi. I'm not going again until March. Enjoy. Punta Sur and Barracuda Reef.

Palancar Reef, Colombia Reef, Santa Rosa Wall, Maracaibo, Punta Sur. Do some of your favorites but try something different. Becca

Never had a bad dive there. I would pass on the wreck, it wasn't very good when I did it (may 2004), However someone did it since and said it was decent. My favorite is probably Punta Tuniche. It is rather flat, with good current. Diving it at night was unbelievable! Lobster, crab, eels, and octopi everywhere. |

Maracaibo and the Devil's Throat at Punta Sur. Both of these dives are far to the south end and usually pretty empty. They also are usually a great place to see turtles and eagle rays (better at Maracaibo). I also like Santa Rosa wall for a deep bounce dive as long as the downcurrents aren't there, and Barracuda Reef up north. Usually Barracuda is very fast current-wise, but you can sometimes catch it great. I'll be there from 12/3 through 12/13 and staying at the Coral Princess. I dive with Pepe' Scuba (have for 13 years). You can also find my wife and I at the sports bar on Sundays watching the Patriots (we'll be in the pats shirts). Pete Benoit (Wife Kelly) look us up!
