Well everybody has an opinion but I believe you must have dove several
times in a years span to formulate an observation that can guide or
help other divers.Like most places Puerto Vallarta has his seasons of
warm water cold water good visibility bad visibility plancton bloom
etc.
Most people come to Puerto Vallarta as snowbirds because it's a cheap
destination in the winter. The winter brings cold water, plancton bloom,
plancton rich water that brings whales and dolphins and giant mantas
into the bay but often lowers the visibility. If you want to see big
stuff close you see nowhere else come in the winter time Dec-May if you
want tropical cristal clear blue water 90F warm come from June -Nov.
Try to dive with a small shop (recommend Ocean Quest Dive Center) that
chooses the dive sites by best conditions and not by number of people
on a cattle boat.

Why on earth would one dive several times in PV within a year if the
diving sucks?

90F? You are completely full of shit. I've dove further south in
Mexico deep in the summertime and the water didn't exceed 80F. The
Pacific down there is cold and it sure ain't crystal clear with all the
polluted runoff.

And gee, what a coincidence that you recommend Ocean Quest and your
e-mail is oquest@yahoo.com. Fucking spammer.

Or they're just really slow readers...

Make it back from your 'vacation' yet?

Why put it in quotes? I had a lovely 10-day liveaboard trip, though
the viz admittedly sucked. We saw some huge nurse sharks, a zebra
shark, lots and lots of lionfish, eels of several sorts, two mantas,
mantis shrimp, pipefish, and plenty of other Indian Ocean critters too
numerous to mention. Our only inconvenience was missing the last day
of diving and having to make a 10-hour drive to Bangkok sitting on the
left side of the car and shifting with my left hand (and you know how I
hate those long drives). Now we're enjoying our 5-day sojourn in
Bangkok with only 9 hours to go before the New Year's celebration. We
'make it back' from our vacation on Jan 2.

Figured that having your vacation location turn into a disaster location
might be worth putting it in quotes...

Glad you're ok -- you still owe me a beer... <evil-grin>

That's fine. Subtract the two you're buying me on my birthday and I'll
settle for one on your tab. See you in February.

Ditto to you, Greg.

I'll buy you (it'll actually be free <G>) an unlimited number
of beer or liquor on Febuary 19 (at the CO President's Club in
LAX) if you can make it there that day.

But it seems a bit more likely that I'll BUY you a drink (which
I had offered many times before without you taking it up) at
the LAX Hilton at some future date in 2005.

I'll actually have a 1-day DIVING opportunity at Puerto Vallata
on my February (12-19) cruise, but I gather the diving there
sucks (unless someone can convince me otherwise), so I am not
planning to dive there even though I'll have my diving gear
ready.

I'll toast you a Happy New Year with my Coca Cola when the
New Year arrives here ... in about 9 hours.

The 2nd toast goes to the rest of you rec.scuban who have
not put me in their killfile. <BWG>

The President's Club has shitty booze. I'm not that cheap. In any
case, I'm flying out that day from Ontario which has no President's
Club. Want to meet halfway, in Houston?

March 19, I believe. I have to fly out of LAX to catch the American
nonstop to Puerto Rico. How's about a Margarita in Old San Juan?

A nine hour delay? There's Google for you.

All booze is shitty. That's why I buy YOU booze but don't drink
it myself. :) Normally the IAH Prez Club meet is a possibility,
except Feb 19. I'll be returning home via EWR.

I'll be in LAX most of the day on March 19. I'll email you to see
if I can buy you a drink there -- unless you fly out early in the
morning, in which case it would be too early to drink anyway.

No, no. That was not a Google delay. It was 9 REAL hours when I
posted the post (from the East Coast) till New Year arrives there.

You Westcoaster get a 3-hour delay after all the Eastcoasters are
already saturated in 2005 booze.
