Today's update (January 19, 2005)

>From the Front Desk of Hotel Meson San Miguel, Cozumel:

$68 USD Single or Double

No longer in the "cheap" accommodation class.

The rate may change from time to time. But during February or
March 2005, the rate is most likely to be $50 Single or Double.

Ob scuba: Due to El Norte, the Cozumel port was closed to diving
on Saturday and Monday. It was open again today, in good weather,
after some showers in the morning. The wind was still fairly
strong, but the water was relatively calm on West Side, after
passing the Puerta Maya cruiseship Pier and the Calete.

The cruiseships must have brought enough passengers to have the
entire water-front between about Puerta Lagosta and the Square
completely replaced by fancy BRICK road (instead of asphalt).
