Default Puerto Vallarta Dive Shop?

My wife and I decided to get certified during our vacation to Puerto
Vallarta in January, so I paid a $100 deposit to Chico's Dive Shop for
2 certification courses. Since then I've read a lot of posts in this
group, and almost every one of them says "Chico's sucks", or something
similar. They say it's a cattle boat operation, has lousy equipment,
and the DM's aren't very safety conscience.

So, what should I do? Can I get my money back from Chico's? Where else
should I go?

Some have said "Vallarta Divers" or "Princesa Divers" are better
places, with smaller groups and better equipment. I also found a place
called "Ocean Quest Dive Center" at www.vallartadivers.com, and they
say they limit groups to 6 people. Is this "Ocean Quest Dive Center"
the same place as "Vallarta Divers", or a different place? Another I
found is called "Vallarta Adventure" and it's located in Nuevo
Vallarta.

I don't like the idea of going out on a cattle boat. I would like to
have at least a little personal instruction by a safe, knowledgable
instructor, and go out with a smaller group.

Can someone please suggest a good dive shop?

We'll be staying at the "Club Velas Vallarta Resort" which is near the
marina.

Also, if anybody has any advice to offer on getting my deposit back
from Chico's, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
