| I just returned from a week at the Grand Mayan just north of Playa Del Carmen. While we were there I arranged to dive with Abyss divers in Playa. What a great group of people. I learned that diving while a hurricane is blowing around can be a bit of a drag. The water was all cloudy and milked out down to 80 feet. The weather was not cooperating at all, only had 3 sunny days, the rest it rained. We would get to the dive shop, and they would be sitting there looking at the sky, shaking their collective head. I always asked, are we going out, or should I order a beer?. In every case their reply was are you in a hurry? I'd get a bottle of water and join them on the picnic table and wait. We never did go out at nine like scheduled, usually 10 or 11, they would look around and say lets dive before it starts again, and off we would go. We would do two one tank dives and come back, which made the afternoon dives late also, but no one seemed to care. One dive will always stand out, tortula reef. The current was ripping. I used way too much air swimming against it so I could see two baby bull sharks under a ledge. I stopped counting turtles at 20, and just enjoyed watching them as I sailed by at 6 to 9 knots. All told it was a great time, and I cannot say enough good about Abyss. I got home last night, to, you guessed it, rain, and it is still raining. I prefer to watch the rain somewhere warm. |

Extremely unlikely. Impossible, in fact, if you had been swimming against it. > All told it was a great time, and I cannot say enough good about > Abyss.
