| Was wondering if anyone has stayed at the El Cid Hotel in Cozumel? I want to stay in a reasonably priced (not all-inclusive) hotel that has a gym, pool, business center and fridge in the room. El Cid has all these (not sure about the gym though) and I think it;s within walking distance of stores, etc.. Any comments and suggestions will be appreciated. | [[ This message was both posted and mailed: see the "To," "Cc," and "Newsgroups" headers for details. ]] In article Bullshark, Though your first comment is quite funny, your post is a waste of bandwidth. Taking your very insightful advice, I took 1 nanosecond to conclude that the reason I posted to rec.scuba.equipment had something to do with the fact that people who are familar with scuba equipment tend to go scuba diving which usually means traveling to some location and staying in some hotel. I guess it's conceivable that some people buy regs, bcd's and other equipment and use them as expensive paperweights in their basement apartment. <1153692286.761618.267930@s13g2000cwa.googlegroups .com>, bullshark <bullshark@gmail.com> wrote: > sytech@yahoo.com wrote: > > > I want to stay in a reasonably priced (not all-inclusive) hotel that > > has a gym, pool, business center and fridge in the room. > > Thats a really big room. I enjoy reading bullshark's posts. Yours, on the other hand, are usually a waste of bandwidth even when they're on topic. > Taking your very insightful advice, I took 1 nanosecond to conclude > that the reason I posted to rec.scuba.equipment had something to do > with the fact that people who are familar with scuba equipment tend to > go scuba diving which usually means traveling to some location and > staying in some hotel. That presumptious of you. There are plenty of people that don't travel to some location and stay in a hotel in order to dive. If I have a question about southern California traffic headed out to the beach, should post my questions on rec.scuba.equipment as well? Obviously, if there are better-suited newsgroups, the more appropriate newsgroups is the correct newsgroup in which to post. For instance, since you were asking about a location, perhaps rec.scuba.locations is the correct group. Cross-posting among other subgroups and to the master group is utterly redundant, but you seem to be a redundant fellow so I guess that should be expected of you. If the El Cid has what you need, stay at the El Cid. Having more than one choice, if all the choices all have what you want, is redundant. (and this is cross-posted to rec.scuba.equipment because anyone who reads rec.scuba.equipment enjoys the topic of redundancy) |

I realize you asked about El Cid, but I still prefer to use the original name, La Ceiba Hotel - they're the same place - kind of... the original La Ceiba has been there for many many years, and more recently got mixed up with those time share scoundrels from Diamond Resorts International. DRI bought the original, older section (where I stayed for several years), gutted and rebuilt half as many rooms (every other interior wall was removed). The rooms are very nice now as I've done lunch with some of their clients there. I know I'll never have my old room again - it's gone - and that's a shame (sorry... fond memories of simpler times). The tower section is the La Ceiba Hotel - I've stayed there a few times too. The corner rooms there are the larger of the choices, and the pics I just found indicate the style hasn't really changed much since the Wilma rebuild efforts. However, the beach side of the complex is totally new and differently styled (except for the pier) and none of the onsite trees have many leaves (yet) - but the man-built stuff is all new (not really surprising since Wilma tore the place to pieces). Early after DRI moved in, the staff was straining to stay afloat financially due to the mix of all-inclusive and standard hotel clients - the DRI guests NEVER offered any gratuities whatsoever ("all inclusive, why should I spend more than the $2K/week I've already paid out?") I dunno, maybe things may have improved since those earlier days. The bar is standard fare, cheap highballs, and in the bar/restaurant/pool area, don't bring your own booze, you'll regret the reaction you get, but over in the hammock/sand area it's okay. <shrug> With DRI sales staff hiding in every corner, if you see one - DUCK and RUN!! If they have a gym, it's been built since Wilma - you'll have to ask. The location is about 4 miles south of town, just north of the old international cruise pier, which puts it barely inside the south hotel zone for the cheaper cab fare to town - cabs are flat rate depending on which hotel zone you start and end at (taxis are union regulated). Not many people want to walk that far to town, though I've skated the distance on many occasions, now I use a bike. With the cruise pier as a neighbor, there's always a cab waiting outside so you'll never have to wait for one. If you see adverts about Del Mar Aquatics being the hotel dive op, it's an old advert - Aqua World is the op now - I've never dived with them, but I've not hearn complaints either (and I think I would have). Aqua World is the same outfit that hosts the Atlantis Submarine tour thing too, right next door. If you do that, I don't agree with their safety bragging - they haven't lost anybody yet, but if they ever do, it's going to be a $75/soul front page disaster for everyone on board (it tours the Chankannab park area). | Thanks for your comments. They are useful and greatly appreciated. Greg Mouseman ought to read your post to see what it means to reply in a useful and meaningful way instead of doing his frat boy routine. You are simply an immature > asshole. That comes across in most of your posts. "I think too many people here have a tendency to go into some type of childish macho posturing and bragging instead of addressing the actual issues in a clear and mature way." "I really think all that alcohol has an effect on these guys, and not only in the water." "I didn't insult "everybody else" if you re-read my quote, only people like yourself who are most likely half-in-the-bag as you wrote your reply." "Greggie Mossman said: "Only a moron would think that Google is the only way to search for information on the internet. ?But I did run my name through Google and the second hit was a local attorney directory that I didn't even know I was on." Because I am quite good at Internet searches his comment reminded me of a search engine called (appropriately enough in Greg's case) "Dogpile". It's a parallel processing search engine that queries numerous search engines at the same time. This is what I found very quickly: http://www.talkaboutsportsnetwork.co...essages/658610... Seems someone posted some comments back in February, 2005 which sound eerily similar to my observations and my questioning Greggie's claim to be an attorney. Veddy interesting. I'm coming to believe that Greggie is one very disturbed dude. As happens quite often in these Newsgroups, there are people like this out there who make a hobby of setting up some kind of identitiy or identities and playing their "audience" for fools. It's actually kind of funny and lets them kill time in between their thrice daily lineups for their medications." "Thanks for reminding me that Google is my " freind". Google also has a dictionary to help people spell." (Editor's note- the response- "syt...@yahoo.com pounded away at his keyboard resulting in: >I'm actually quite good ar searching the Internet. Then why couldn't you find out about the climate in western Puerto Rico? Dan Bracuk) " I seem to remember posting a question about a year or so ago and getting a similarly incoherent and addled rant from some nutcase, probably yourself. What is your problem with Puerto Rico? Or are you having delusions and hallucinations again?" "I'm sure no one ever considered you to be a windbag. Whadda guy. Overcompensate much?" "B.t.w., having read some of your more recent rants that you had with Lee (unless you're one and the same) confirms for me that you are one sick alcoholic fuck, if not 2." "Greggie, I don't know how much Psychology you studied at Community college but you are one hell of an example of what the pros refer to as having a Narcissistic Personality Disorder:? "Behavior or a fantasy of grandiosity, a lack of empathy, a need to be admired by others, an inability to see the viewpoints of others, and hypersensitive to the opinions of others". And once again why don't you post that URL. You're not shy about all other types of bluster. Wanna bet on it? Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah! Wanna arm wrestle about it huh, huh????" ""Empathy is for pussies" ? "Wow! That's the very definition of a "psychopathic personality". You must be goofing. No normal person can have an attitude like that. Like I said before, you are one sick dude." - sytech -- Popeye I like to listen. I have learned a great deal from listening carefully. Most people never listen. -Hemingway |

My comment about your wasting bandwidth? Yeah, that was pretty low. Oh, what's that? It was in response to your comment about bullshark wasting bandwidth? But, [sputter, sputter] wouldn't that make you a supreme hypocrite? > What is it about you that compels you to write a lengthy commentary and > criticism where none is required? Unfortunately, all Newsgroups have > jerks like like yourself who need to vent their spleen and bluster > instead of staying of responding civilly. You are simply an immature > asshole. That comes across in most of your posts. My response was very civil. I merely reflected that you were wasting bandwidth as much as bullshark, if not much more. And I suggested that you were redundant, more an observation than an insult. You reply by calling me a jerk, immature, and an asshole, and then have the hypocrisy to call ME uncivil? What a joke. But I do have to admire your tenacity. You keep getting knocked down, shown to be the fool every time, yet you keep coming back for more. That's the makings of a great shore diver. Keep it up. |

Still, you can't fault his powers of observation. Of course, he left out argumentative, but maybe that was because he knows you're a lawyer. > But I do have to admire your tenacity.
