Default OT -- US Decides on New Method for Border Protection with Mexico

Looks like we won't be putting a fence up along the Rio Grande...

probably more effective than anything the Americans will ever do. By the
way is it true the American economy would collapse without all the illegal
immigrants?

An effective fence might result in less border patrol agents being needed...
One could argue that any solution that is attempted would not put them out
of a job... Bureaucracies do not survive by becoming more efficient... They
survive by maintaining the status quo...

Unlikely... There would be some changes, but they would hardly be what one
could call a collapse...

Southern californication's economy might take a pretty hard hit.

We're already having to raise our minimum wage to $7.50 come Jan. 1, and
$8.00 by next Jan. 1. That's either enough to convince real Americans to
pick our strawberries, or else we'll eat what we grow ourselves and the rest
of the U.S. can switch to Chilean grapes.

Too many places where you can walk across without getting your ankles wet...
Actually there are a couple of dams on the river, but what water does flow
in the river gets used for irrigation and leaves quite a few places in the
river with not much left to really call a river...

Where the Rio Grande "empties" into the Gulf you'll find a wide dry
spot. Almost no water gets there.

Mexico owes the US several hundred billion gallons of water.

Hardly. Look at all the people they give the U.S. in return.
