HELP PLEASE--Micronesia--Yap--Resort/Diving Question

How is diving with Beyond the Reef Divers? I'd like to stay at Trader's Ridge
Resort for my non-diving spouse, but they don't have a special package with Yap
Divers, so it would be a few hundred more to dive with Yap Divers.

PS--Can someone advise if Trader's Ridge really is substantially nicer for the
same class of room/view? It looks nicer.

I was in YAP in late 2000. I stayed at Traders Ridge and visited
Manta Bay Ray hotel for dinner one night. Traders Ridge is much much
nicer than anything else there. In fact, it would have been
considered very nice no matter where in the world it was. I would
definately stay there if nice accomodations are important to you.
There's nothing wrong with MRB Hotel, it's just not as nice as Traders
Ridge, by a long shot.

I also dove with Beyond the Reef Divers. Their boat was very small.
It was really a piece of junk. But there were only 4 divers, and I
ended up looking forward to talking with the American expat who
owns/runs it. I'd go with them again too. However, Yap Divers is
without a doubt the most profesional operation on the Island. In fact
I only noticed two dive operations total on the island. There might be
more, but they weren't out when we were. I assume you're only going
to Yap to see the Mantas? There really isn't a whole lot to do there
othe than dive. Are you going there on the way back from Palau?

I would agree with that..........

It was quiet when we were there too........but thats how i like it.

It was the same last Christmas.....

The Manta's and the Mandarins.........it is a very quiet place i agree.
