| What is the current situation in burma now regarding scuba diving? I heard there were some territorial disputes with thailand that restricted live aboard operations. I also read about damaged reefs from dynamite and over fishing. Has anybody been there recently? How was the experience? Is it possible to do shore based diving or is it necessary to stay on a boat? Any vice operators people can recommend? Thanks |

| I did a ten day live aboard trip on the Ocean-Rover this past April. Most of the dives were in Burmese (now known as Mynamar). It was some of the best diving I have ever done. At a few of the dive sites, there was evidence of dynamite fish. But by and large it was pretty darn outstanding. The only disappointment was that we saw no whale sharks. We saw clown fish, lion fish... Big stuff, small stuff you name it. On all of the dives in Burmese waters, we were the only boat at the dive site. The dive sites in Thai waters can get a bit busy. Especially sites such as Richelieu Rock. The crew of the Ocean Rover we absolutely terrific! Great food, nice cabins. They have my highest recommendation. The website is ; www.ocean-rover.com Jim "n" <total_utter_carp@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:ae83e187.0407302235.3239c8a9@posting.google.c om... > What is the current situation in burma now regarding scuba diving? | Jim, Do you think it would be possible to do shore based diving? Or are there not so many good sites available from land based operations? How much a day is it? I will check the oceanrover site. thanks |
