Somewhat similar to Bonaire. A good bit of shore diving but not as many
accessable sites as Bonaire. Somewhat fished over, good coral, maybe better
than Bonaire in places as there is nowhere near as many divers.

After you've done your homework, come back and ask some intelligent questions,

Hey, that's not fair. The original question was legitimate. Maybe Mr.
O'Hare wanted to hear from someone who has actually paid to dive in
Curacao and not just someone who IS paid to say nice things about the
diving in Curacao. Since this is rec.scuba.locations, such questions
seem entirely appropriate. On rec.scuba, of course, since it's a diving
related question, it would be totally inappropriate.

Carry on Mr. O'Hare.

Unfortunately, I've never been to Curacao, so I can't help you.

See, George, that's my point: I've *been* to Curacao, and I did my homework, and
if he wants specific points, I'd be happy to address them, but beyond giving him
a general website to check out which actually answers his rather whiny question,
why should I waste time with someone who clearly has no clue about what he
wants?

Just back (mid- Nov) from two weeks based at Capt Dons. We were in Bonaire
the same time the year before.
We prefer Bonaire because it is really geared up for divers whereas Curacao
is almost amateurish by comparison.
There are twice the number of shore diving sites. Curacao is a much bigger
island and sites take longer to reach
The sites in Bonaire are unbelievably accessible - most are within 10 yards
of the side of the road. Curacao's sites are in many cases down long rutted
tracks.
The swims to the reef edge are in many cases shorter in Bonaire.
Diving is very similar at both locations - largely a 45 degree sloping reef
with pretty good coral and lots of fish. Our impression was of less decent
sized fish in Curacao which is probably due to commercial fishing still
being allowed all along the reef. We saw boats at it every day and plenty of
evidence of lines and net entangled in the coral. Bonaire by comparison has
decided on its course of fully promoting diving, has declared the reef a
Marine Park and banned fishing.
Dive centres are more geared up for shore divers with easy drive throughs to
change your tanks.
Diving is good on both islands but not particularly exciting although that
is a very subjective view and depends on your level of previous experience.
We enjoyed the diving on both equally but just found Bonaire so much more
convenient. If you are heading that way, I would definitely consider
Bonaire.
This may not answer your question directly but I hope it gives you something
to work on.

hi,

check out this site:
http://www.limestoneholiday.com/

have been there 2 yrs ago, pretty cheap accomodation, car and tanks,
will cost half than Capt. Dons, where you need a car to get off the
hotel and where they do all trip by boat, while you could do them on
your own with the tanks in your car, since most places are beach dives
