Even from many cities in the Midwest and South, Bonaire is either a two day
trip or a long and difficult one day affair. I really like Bonaire but it is
sure a difficult jaunt from Kansas City.

I used to be able to do it in one day on ALM when they ran the non-stops
from Atlanta in the afternoon. These days there is no way to get from Denver
to Atlanta or Miami and catch anyone's flight to Bonaire....all in the same
day. The overall reduction of flights by all airlines has made much travel
from the middle of the country difficult in terms of duration and
overnights. But I don't let that dictate to me where I want to go diving.
'Course, my schedule is maybe more flexible than some so I can plan that
extra day or so for the travel portion.

Also, they've got damn good food in Atlanta so I don't complain to much
about having to spend time there :^) I still believe there ain't no
breakfast like a Southern breakfast. Grits, gravy, cornbread, fried fat....I
just love it. In an unholy, unhealthy kind of way.............

Just fly into Aruba. There are all kinds of flights to Aruba from
everywhere! BonairExel has 3 flights daily Aruba to Bonaire.

Doesn't matter,. There are still no flights out of Denver to a US or
Central/South Amrerica gateway that get you there in time to catch another
flight to the ABC's....all in the same day. A US overnight in Atlanta or
Miami is almost decreed. Having to make a stop in Aruba only further
complicates the difficulty of traveling to Bonaire from Denver (that's
another stop beside the one that must already be made in the US). And the
grounds crews in both Aruba and Curacao are legendary for their mis-handling
of luggage switches. The number of people who arrive in Bonaire after a
plane change in Aruba or Curacao and have delayed or missing bags is huge.
It's always been a significant problem whether the airline was Excel, DCE
or, in the recent past, ALM.

Chris is right, travel to Bonaire from our part of the country is a pain and
is time consuming. There is no way around it.

FABULOUS. HAVE BEEN THERE FEB AND MARCH. Couldn't be better. Warm water,
Not too crowded (except during March Madness).

March madness ? Eastern Holidays ?
I would like to know which locations to avoid when, since we are
breeding about a vacation in the time between end February and April.
So far I have considered Cozumel, Bonaire, GC, Saba, but I really don't
know where to look at for details. We like independent diving, to go a
bit deeper( -40m, but 65 under good conditions is no problem, a bit of
pelagics, not to many bugs, and good tea from the divemaster.
