Default Bonaire - Hotel Shore Diving & Kids Club

Do you have recommandations for a nice hotel with direct acces to dive and a
good kids club for a 5 years old boy

Thanks

Probably not in Bonaire. Possibly not anywhere in the Caribbean.
I've never seen it and I've been to a lot of places.

If you are willing to dive from a boat, and go to another country,
Iberostar in Cozumel might do the trick. They have a kids program and
you the onsite dive shop has 4 dives available per day, which gives
you a lot of flexibility.

You can ask the same question at bonairetalk.com and see if there are
some other suggestions.

A few years back, the Sand Dollar had become a real dump. It was pretty
trashed, especially the docks, by Lenny and I never heard about it being
rebuilt properly. We stayed there about ten years ago and liked it but it
was beginning to get a bit long in the tooth even back then.

The Plaza Resort, I believe, has a kids program and the on-site dive
operation, Toucan Divers, is one of the best on the island. The Plaza is
very nice and the security is first rate.

I will be in Bonaire this Saturday. E-mail me in about two weeks -- I will
swing by the Sand Dollar and check it out. I will be staying at Port
Bonaire, the condo section of the Plaza.

Still is Chris. Some of the individual owners of the condos are up in arms
because the revenues have dropped significantly since the docks blew away.
The dive shop and photo shop are not even on the property anymore...they are
right next door, along the road that leads to Den Laman. The current dock
they are using is also not on the property it is right next door too, so the
whole operation is just not as easy and convenient as it used to be. The
loss of the Green Parrot has probably hurt as well....I used to love walking
up there from Harbour Village for lunch.

I have thought the Sand Dollar was pretty much a shit hole for quite a few
years now, even though the dive shop and photo shop were amongst the best on
the island, but after the loss of the dock it has really taken a dive. To
bad...a lot of people have had marvelous times there. You hate to see a good
place go downhill.

There will never be docks built where the old ones were. It's a combination
of local regulation as well as sight lines. They can't insure if they build
at the same level as before and if they build up higher on the rocks the
sight lines to the ocean will be ruined for a number of the units.

Good for you. Have a great time.
