I've never read that report. The one I referred to was your report in Scuba-L in which you were telling a story (part lie, part truth), because you claimed later that what you said about carving your name on sponses and corals were your lies. lying on the downcurrent, your posted pics of your hand and your Uwatec computer showing the max depth of 175 fsw. That was probably 8 or 10 years ago. You MAY still have those pictures. With Nick taking Scuba-L to some underground dungeon for his practice of dominitrix, I don't have access to search that group anymore for the archives. 225 fsw was the depth I went on the Cos99NEDfest in which I arranged a special Maracaibo dive for those wanting to dive BELOW 150 fsw. Eight people (including myself) signed up for that dive. The sea was miserably rough and the DM and boat captain both screwed up, and we wound up spending 10 minutes below 100 fsw LOOKING for the ledge of the drop off, which was at 190 fsw. when we got there. I stayed below everyone, just in case I was needed to rescue some narc'ed diver. It turned out that only Ray Jones and I went below 200 fsw, and when I said in a post that I was below everyone he said "Bob, I was down to 213 fsw", and replied by saying I knew, because I was "about 15 feet below you." I've only done a few dives (all planned) below that. The deepest one was planned at 250 fsw at the Cedral Wall in Cozumel, with DM Jaime who had done hundreds of dives below 300 when he was working as a black coral diver. On that dive, Jaime's depth gauge needed went completely around the 0 point, and he had no idea how deep he was when we went past 250 fsw. the HyperAqualand watch DOES have a max depth capacity of 259 fsw, because it stayed at that depth below. by the time I reached Jaime to signal him to go up, I estimated from the plot of our profile, extrapolating from the sharp V with a slight flat bottom \_/ that we went to 290 fsw. --Reef Fish Bob. |
