| I'm thinking of going to Gran Carnaria around Christmas time. Combined family holiday in the sun and some diving. Any recommendations for hotels and dive centres? |

Did out diving with Nordic Divers they are close to Bahia Feliz but will, as everyone else down there, pick you up at the hotel. Most of the diveing was done in Cabron, a nice protected part of the costal line. A nice dive site with a loot of fish, including muray eals, stirngrays, barracudas, cutlefish and angelsharks. / Balp -- http://anders.arnholm.nu/ Keep on Balping |

Any recommendations for hotels > and dive centres? > I know the tourist area of Gran Canaria like the back of my hand (ask any gay bloke and they'll tell you exactly the same LOL - but don't let that put you off!) if you want somewhere near to everything but a little quieter at night, stay at Maspalomas, just outside Playa del Ingles. It's only 2 Euros in a taxi to the beach or to the nightlife and you won't get people chucking up outside your door at 3am. The beach at Maspalomas is great too - a little busy by the Faro (light house) but if you walk along a little way to the Life Boat shelter it gets very quiet and later becomes nude if you're into that sort of thing (it then becomes gay so if you see a load of muscle mary's posing in the surf, you know you've gone too far! HA HA!) For diving I have used Blue Explorers who have an 'office' just below the Iguazu apartments in Playa del Ingles. I found them to be very good (did my PADI AOW with them a few years ago) and very helpful. Check out their URL. Diving was good there too. http://www.blue-explorers.com/tour_gran_canaria_en.html HTH Nick x |
