| Sorry if this has been asked a million times before but I don't know where to find the archives of this group. I'm planning a little holiday to Gran Canaria, not been there before and would appreciate any advice about any of the following... 1) Where to stay, which town? We like Las Americas in Tenerife, so lively is good. 2) Who to dive with? I only need to hire reg and tank and am AOWD so I'm looking for a company that can take me to the good site and a bit of night diving. I'm dying to try the underwater housing for my digital camera! 3) Any must see dive sites? Thanks in advance. Craig --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. I stayed at Puerto Rico, had some lively stuff but not that much. I think that Playa Del Ingles is the more lively resort on the island. However we did do a Discover Scuba Diving thingy with these people. Great bunch got me & my girlfriend hooked on diving. As in were going back in December to do some more, as we both have now completed our OW. http://www.blue-explorers.com/tour_gran_canaria_en.html Hope it helps Paul |

Trip report on my website though it's a while ago now and I think the dive centre has changed hands. | Playa de Ingles is the place to be, I too like a lively place, I've done Puerto Rico & it is pretty naff. I've dived there a few times, did a few dives with an operator which slips my mind out of Puerto Rico & was not impressed by the sites. I have also used an English run operator based 10mins drive North of Playa de Ingles http://www.davyjonesdiving.com/en/sc...an-canaria.htm they & the diving were excellent, they also pick up from your hotel & drop you back. Dive sites at Arinaga Marine reserve were very impressive, with plenty of life, do not under any circumstances go there & miss the "Kalais", http://www.buceocanarias.com/kalais.html a greek freighter lying just of Las Palmas(seabed 32m)it is one of the top 5 wrecks I have ever dived, it works out a bit more expensive as it involves them driving you to the North of the Island & organising spaces on a local charterboat, but it is well worth it. Best if you contact them before you go asb they do not have a base in the resort. Regards Neil www.divinginscotland.co.uk |
