This reminds me of a story my training surgeon used to tell about WWII.
A young recruit was facing the the Germans/Japanese and couldn't find
anyone to shoot at. He asked his sergeant about it. Old Sarge said,
"Just shout: The Hell with Hitler/The Emperor". So the recruit did.
Sure enough, an enemy soldier stood up and shouted, "The Hell with
Roosevelt." The recruit didn't shoot and Sarge asked "Why didn't you
shout the SOB!" The recruit replied, "Sarge, he was a Republican. I
can't shoot a Republican."
