Default Thailand recommendations ? Koh Tao ?

I currently have PADI open water with about 20 dives. I'm intending to do
the advanced OW, staying about 7 days on Koh Tao, then head for Phuket and
3-4 days on a live aboard around the Similans.

Does anyone have any recommendations for dive operators, places to stay or
avoid. I'll be travelling alone so somewhere with a lively social scene
would be good.

Thanks in advance

Justin

Try http://www.seadragondivecenter.com/

They're about 45 minutes north of Phuket by taxi, and they do the kind
of liveabords you want.

On Koh Tao suggest diving with scuba junction (damn good eggs!!) and staying
at the seashell resort, very nice and fairly inexpensive.

I really enjoyed my stay at Sunset Buri. Met the people at Scuba Junction,
seemed like a right good outfit. Met others diving with them and they liked
it too.

Myself, I dove with New Way. I was pleased enough, though their boat went
in for servicing during my stay and I ended up diving through New Way but on
Ban's boats. That was good too.

HI,

My wife and I have just left Koh Tao, we were diving with the
operators called Budda View. I took my resucue and EFR courses there
along with a load of fun dives and they were excellent.
They have 3 24m dive boats and the staff are all very goog / nice and
good to dive with. They are located in the south of the island and
have a nice beach position with. Every night they have a good seafood
bbq. One dive costs 1000b with a reduction in price the more you dive,
or if you take a course with them. I would have stayed a lot longer
but the visa ran out :0 Have fun,.

In Phuket I recommend Warm Water Divers. Good, friendly people, well
stocked dive shops and well-maintained equipment for hire (if you
haven't got your own).
They do the Advanced OW including wreck and night dives in a couple of
days for under 10,000 Baht and also arrange live-aboards at the
Similans.
Look them up when you get there.

The shops are good as well

That is a little expensive as on Koh Tao it is 7300 baht with a discount
on your bungalow for 3 nights

This is just one example.
