Added a few days later...Hey, I didn't realize that there were negative self
righteous people on here who think a persons worth can be measured by how
much diving they have done. Wow, I just wanted some ideas for my trip which
is in rainy season which I have no control over. Can we focus on the facts
please instead of our egos? Please reply only if you have some advice about
dive sites etc.

I completely disagree. The best months for diving the Gulf of Thailand are
May through August. I was there in early October.

I still don't regret my decision to go. Like I said, I loved the island and
since the OP is a new diver, I'm sure she will like it just fine.

Sarah, where were you thinking of going in Thailand?

LOL, the diving in Belize is just fine. Don't listen to Greg. He was on
Ambergris Caye one time in the month of May during a monsoon. He had two
dives on a private boat and the divers on it, didn't know where they were
going. If only he'd listened to chilly's advice, I'm sure he'd have had a
much better time and a much better experience. He knows this but likes to
keep trying to tease me . .when it was all his own fault for not taking my
advice.

Not measuring a person's worth, but measuring their worth with regard to
dispensing advice on diverse sites and parts of the world for diving.

How are you getting to Thailand? Are you flying into Bangkok? Are you
going just to dive, or do you intend to tour around too?

If you are going to dive, then fly to Koh Samui, don't stay there for
diving, though you may to have a bit of a visit on the island. From Koh
Samui, take the Lomprayah high speed catarmaran ferry over to Koh Tao. Stay
on Sairee beach and dive with any of the larger dive outfits there ie:
Scuba Junction, New Way or Ban's. There are probably any number more that
would be a good choice.
