Default Phuket Diving - Not again !

I have dived around Phuket for the last 8 years and have loved
it....but now I would like to try somewhere else. Is there anywhere
else in Thailand, Vietnam,or Cambodia that compare?
I like to have a bit of night life, a comfortable hotel room with
air-conditioning and a reasonable choice of restaurants at night. I
have dived a few times around Koh Samui and Koh Tao but the visibility
is not as good as around Phuket.
I'm told that Koh Lak is more big hotels spaced apart so you aren't
walking around a little town with restaurants and bars.
Anywhere else I should try.
Please post recommendations for an alternative in Thailand, Cambodia
or Vietnam. I normally go for 8 days.
Thank-you.
Neil.

Have you tried Burma or Myanmar? I have no idea if they have good dive
resorts with fun little towns like Phuket, but so many live-aboards go
up from Phuket to dive there that there might be brilliant day dives
from the Burmese coast.

I had also heard that Khao Lak has grown and improved so much that it
is possible to stay in a good hotel near the beach and walk to loads
of restaurants. The beach is not supposed to be as nice as Phuket
beaches.
Hopefully someone who knows about Khao Lak or Burma will post a reply
from first hand experience.
Mike

Last April I did a ten day live aboard cruise on the Ocean Rover out of
Phuket. 90% of our dives were in Mynamar. The dive was out of this world.
With out a doubt, the best diving I have every done. We saw every thing
imaginable except for whale shark. The reefs are a riot of colors and for
the most part, we were the only boat around. It's definitely worth going to.
