What about me? I lost an entire day of diving. Where's CNN to hear my
story?

I am very tired and I think I have pneumonia.

Don't worry, you're probably just tired after your long trip.

And I was kidding of course: losing a day of diving wasn't really a huge
tragedy since the diving sort of sucked anyway.

Dengue more likely, or malaria. Filariasis, leishmaniasis, onchocerciasis,
and American trypanosomiasis are other intriguing possibilities to worry
about. I thought I had pneumonia when I returned from my trip, or maybe
SARS or avian flu, but I'm feeling a bit better today. I held my coughs and
sneezes until after we cleared immigration since we came direct from Taiwan,
SARS HQ, and I didn't feel like spending the next 90 days in quarantine.

This weather sucks. Like living in frickin' Seattle and I thought I was
over that phase of my life. Another half-inch and my pool starts
overflowing. It's never done that before. So far the storms have killed 7
in California. It may not be a tsunami, but it's no laughing matter either
(like anyone would joke about a tsunami).

Good idea. You're far more likely to get that CNN coverage you want if you infect the
entire city than if you're just an isolated case.
