I stand corrected, Greg. I had it mixed up with Indonesia,
and thought Thailand was a part of the 17,000+ islands of
the Republic of Indonesia.

The folks look alike, act alike, that's close enough. :)

I was there (Thailand) less than a year ago and had
a "taxi" sightseeing tour for over an hour for 20 Bhat,
or the equivalent of 50 US cents.

That's about the only place left in the world where
the USD is still worth something!

who stuck around mostly in rec.scuba bullshitting about
guns and polititics and know nothing about DIVING.

They dropped in rec.scuba.LOCATIONS, which I
consider it a completely different group from rec.scuba,
although historically they were considered the same.

The rec.scubans are the likes of Curtis who had
probably never been anywhere outside of Florida or
the SE USA and thought he knew something about
diving in the rest of the world.

Its folks like him and a couple others that literally
KILLED this group!

For month, Dan Bracuk was the regular poster of
this group who posts about DIVING rather than
the kind of BS other visitors from rec.scuba post.

That is my opinion, and is the concensus opinion
of ALL the DIVERS I know -- that rec.scuba is no
longer a diving discussion group, while rec.scuba.
locations occasionally had SOME diving content.

No longer.

I dropped in to find about ONE post a day
for the recent weeks -- with not much
diving content -- and that's pretty pitiful and
fully qualify for the description of being MORIBUND.

You chilly is only partially quilty of the ignant
rec.scuba group.

I don't think I posted even once this year in rec.scuba until
yesterday! Look at the posting STATS of recent months
and years in rec.scuba.locations:

You don't have to be a world renouned statistician to
notice how MORIBUND the group has been in 2007.

38 posts in February, the Cozumel Carnival (Mardi
Gras) month. There were 406,, 547, and 414 in the
receding years in which Dan Bracuk, Greg Mossman,
and i talked about diving in Cozumel during their
Mardi Gras. This year, the rec.scuba.locations
killers were probably drinking beer and talking about
guns and politis in some sleezy DIVE (beer joint) in
Florida.
