Default Tobago

We are thinking of going to Turtle beach, Tobago in October. I'd be
grateful for any opinions or advice on the place and the diving.

Thanks

Mick

I just got back from a week at Turtle Beach - it was a decent place to stay
and on a great beach, but in need of some renovation. It's also about 20
minutes drive from the nearest towns (Crown Point/Scarborough).

In terms of the diving, there's plenty of good stuff on the reefs around the
airport end (Crown Point) of the island. Most dives are drifts to some
degree, and the visibility tends to be poor for the top 5 metres or so due
to water flowing from the Orinocco river and then it clears up below that.
Sisters rocks on the Caribbean side were very good - definitely worth a
trip. I also went up to Speyside, which was pretty good though it seems
there's no longer the high probability of seeing Mantas which it's known
for.

I dived with Manta dive in Crown Point - I'd certainly recommend them, and
they're pretty flexible if there's particular places you want to dive.

Feel free to drop me an email if you have any questions

Cheers,
Steve

If you do an archive trawl on rec.scuba you will find
lots of posts (some from me) from Tobago fans.

This might work of you cut and paste it together:
