Default UKRS Plymouth mini trip report

I can't be bothered to do a full one, especially as I've already got most
of the sites described on a previous report.

So, it was a bit on the blowy side this weekend. Fortunately it was
easterlies, so we could still dive. First dive was supposed to be the
Maine, but that's too exposed, so we did the Persier.

The air temperature was about 15C, but it felt a lot colder because of the
cold wind, so it was definitely wooly hat time. The water temp was also
about 15C. I checked my air after about 5 minutes and was surprised to
find it hadn't gone down much. I checked the manifold was open just in
case, and it was. I guess that because the sea was the same temp as the
air, I didn't get the usual reduction of pressure due to the gas cooling.

The Persier was pleasant enough. Quite a few fish, viz probably about 5m.
Everything looks a bit grey as this time of year because of the lower
levels of natural light.

Second dive was the James Egan Layne. Viz was probably a metre or two
better. It's quite sad to see how much of it has collapsed in the last 2
years since I dived it last. What used to be rooms are now fairly open
with just ribs remaining.

The next day was even windier. We did the Rosehill and had about 8m viz.
I'd only done this once before and had to abort the dive due to a dodgy
air fill, so it was good to see it in its entirety. There were a couple of
big boilers, a stern gun and a big 4 blade prop. Depth was about 30m.

Second dive was supposed to be the Elk, but it looked a bit rough to me,
so I decided to sit it out. Getting round the corner, it looked a bit
rough to the skipper too, so we decided to do the Glen Strath Allen and I
decided to definitely sit it out. I'm sure it was lovely.

Kit breakage award must go to Steve Chapin for ripping his drysuit on the
JEL.

<snip>

But they were all new to me, so I've banged up a first draft report at:

Just trying to get the slander in before Steve does!

Cheers,
