| I try to sponsor a trip occasionally to the Caribbean. With the storms this year it seems that people are reluctant to schedule a trip. This year I set up a trip to Grand Turk at the Osprey Beach Hotel. The trip in on but I need another couple to round out the group! We will be leaving on October 21st to Grand Turk for 7 nights, including 6 days diving, & 5 days Breakfast and dinner for $1055. Both the hotel and dive operator have said the storm damage on the island was minimal and are looking forward to hosting our group. If you or someone you know may be interested in joining us, please refer them to my website at www.ncdiver.com or give them my email address, dixon321@ncdiver.com Thanks, from everything I have heard about Grand Turk, I expect this to be a great trip. Yeah, as long as there are no hurricanes. Didn't the Wave Dancer sink during an October hurricane? Come to think about it, Hurricane Mitch was an October event also. | Thanks Mtbchip, I expect it to be a great trip. At the risk of offending this newsgroup's police, I am an individual works hard at trying to share my love of diving with others by setting up an occasional trip. I find it difficult to understand why would someone go to the trouble of editing my original message then accuse me of spam. I did not force an unwelcome message on anyone, I put a personal message in a public place. Is this normal behavior for this news group? I go to Provo every summer for August. Next year will be my 6th time there! I love the TCI diving, all of which is outrageous! I think Grace Bay diving is stupendous. The same people that attack NG users also dis diving in Grace Bay as if it's inferior. Ridiculous at best! You enjoy Grand Turk Chip San Diego CA |

I did >> not force an unwelcome message on anyone, I put a personal message in a >> public place. Is this normal behavior for this news group? Actually: "CHARTER: rec.scuba.locations The purpose of this group will be to exchange information (preferably first-hand) about dive sites, dive locations (including live-aboards), dive operations at these locations, how to get yourself and your gear there, and where to stay/ eat/play once you do. Commercial advertisements are not appropriate." Notice the "commercial advertisements are not appropriate" section? I have been duly deputized by The Moderator. My credentials are impeccable. I'm hardly a run-of-the-mill self-appointed spam cop. You should fear me. Is it normal behavior to act so defensive when one posts a commercial advertisement on a newsgroup that abhors commercial advertisments? That's the sort of behavior a trained spam detective notes in a suspect. You were given the standard mild interrogations, no brights lights shining in your eyes, no polygraph electrodes taped to your nipples. Simply, to repeat: > So what do you get out of the trips you're marketing here with your spam? > A > freebie? Commission? Profit margin? All three? Answer the question honestly and you shall be punished justly. If you truly do not receive any monetary (or its equivalent) benefit from your posts, then I shall beg your forgiveness and suffer shame and embarrassment. But we all know that's not the case, don't we? > Unfortunately there are a lot of self appointed net police. I imagine > they > don't lead a fun and colorful life by the way they appear here. My life sucks. Having to patrol newsgroups day in and day out pointing out attempts to spam the newsgroups with unwanted advertisements is no picnic and it's certainly taken its toll on me. I'm only 36 and half my hair is gray. I haven't been diving in well over a week (Avalon Underwater Park, 9/27/04) and likely won't be diving again until 10/18 when I'm scheduled for 4 dives that day with Jack's in Kona. It sucks to be me. I'm having to give up a prepaid non-refundable 2-night trip to Cortez Banks for opening of lobster season this weekend because my other job demands my presence. But fuck fun and color. At least I know and respect righteousness and honor and I perform my sworn duty to uphold the sanctity of this newsgroup as if my life depended on it. > I go to Provo every summer for August. Gosh, don't forget to mention your Thailand liveaboard coming up after that. Oh, and the Florida trip in between Hawaii and Thailand. Lessee now, you've been on how many away dive trips in the last 365 days? Near as I can tell, of those that hang out here on the board, there's only one person that does more dive travel than you. Reef Fish. At least when you are on your dive vacations, you don't feel compelled to post here unlike him. And that gives a break to those that wish to post commercial spam. (snip) |

| Greg, I cannot argue whether or not you are "duly deputized by The Moderator" or if your "credentials are impeccable". Most likely "It sucks to be" you is very true. The only conclusion one can draw from your reply is you are self centered jerk and, based on your poor, poor pitiful me speach, most likely a liar. Enjoy your diving. |
