The silver/grey thing to the right of the screen is a CD/DVD duplicator, which robotically burns and prints directly onto discs in quantities up to 100, unattended. This particular model is called the 2000i, by Rimage. It's a pretty slick machine. I've produced thousands of discs with it, which saves me huge headaches since I don't have to burn separately, and then feed discs into a printer one at a time, etc. Someone thought it looked like a cappuccino machine. :) ***Or maybe you meant that "thing" next to the black computer box?? -That's a funky little open-geared clock that uses the old-style flip-numbers. :) I have a little collection of odd-ball clocks, and this is one of my favorites. -Mark² PS--You wouldn't happen to have a roommate in CA, would you? > > > "Mark²" <mjmorgan(lowest even number here)@cox..net> wrote in message > news:RtPJg.1892$nL2.752@fed1read02... >> >> :) >> Thanks. >> It's actually a pretty small room...only about 12' x 10 or 11'. >> When the furniture was delivered, the movers thought I was nuts >> because it appeared (to them) that it would never all fit. LOL! No obsession about it. I'm simply stating that in fairness to yourself you should shoot an identical shot under the same conditions with IS off and post the results. I'm confident in your handholding abilities and I'm certain that your image will be as equally sharp if not sharper with IS off at 24mm. >>> Don't misunderstand me, it's a nice picture but I fail to see >>> how it makes a case for the need of IS/VR @ wide angle or otherwise! >> >> VR/IS on focal lengths of 50mm and lower are nothing more than >> marketing gimmicks since they add absolutely no real world benefits. > > You're now bordering on silliness. Everyone knows that IS/VR works, particularly under conditions where it actually helps. Leave Marky alone, won't you? He just wanted to fling his new bling. Er, that is, share the joy of his new toy. :) |

Er, that > is, share the joy of his new toy. :) Nobody is arguing that VR/IS doesn't work. It works amazingly well and does a great job when used properly and/or when it's really needed, in this case it wasn't needed. I'm proud of Mark and his new "bling" and wish him the best. Though, I'm sure this was the real reason for his post since he would have posted a non-IS image under the same conditions if his goal was demonstrating the benefits of IS. Rita |

Off topic arrogance? Could it be that joan-in-manly exceeded her daily dose of testosterone? Hmm? |
