I guess none of the "supporters" is paid to defend his/her OS in such a
"taliban" way: they are just making a lot of *free* advertisement for
companies who just laugh at them.
To run Linux gives me the opportunity to reply "Sorry, I don't know your
OS" to the most of stupid questions, diverting people to a friend's shop
who asks 50 euro/hour to fix computers (a sort of "RTFM tax").
I'm even thinking to replace Linux with Solaris (just because Unicos
don't run on X86 processors) to get rid of remaining newbies.
And, just to be "in-topic" with this ng, I'll buy a Pentax K10D, not
because it's better but because I'm very tired of holy wars ("Sorry, I
don't know your camera").

That statement, at least, makes good sense.

Whatever. I run Linux because it works and the price is right. I installed
Linux on four seats at the local library for public access internet use -
two years ago. About a year ago we added four more. To date: zero malware
infections and zero user complaints. They just work - no BSODs, no
malware, and the library has a few hundred dollars more for books. I
recently purchased a refurbished Kodak P850 camera for myself from the
Kodak online store - it meets my needs, and being recently discontinued,
it was inexpensive - I still have my first digital camera - a Kodak DC210+
(1mp) which still works fine - I just needed more resolution and a long
zoom.

???? 4 seats of XP Pro for a library should cost about 32 bucks total.

Where are you getting your "few hundred dollars"?

So what you're suggesting is that only left-handers are in their right
minds?

You can't do very much with an XP Pro CD and 4 licenses. Almost
any computer can be used to run linux, even used computers several
years old. They'll probably cost enough less per computer to save
several hundred dollars versus what you'd have to pay for four
computers able to handle XP Pro without choking.

I'm not familiar with the source where I'd get four seats for $32 - we now
have eight. I would assume that would also include Office and Photoshop;
as we now use OpenOffice and GIMP.

Has nothing to do with that. Nada.
