I decided on a Canon Powershot S50 (5MP) for ~£375 + housing for £90
(I got a cheap one from dabs because it had been opened). Seems
excellent quality on land, and in it's casing (the only annoying bit
being that you can't change all the options with the housing on -
despite what they say).
Unfortunately, I've not had the chance to get it wet (except dropping
it in a pond - with the housing on - phew) because I've blown an ear
drum

I guess the first diving I'll do with it will be with CUUEG when I
turn up in October.

I use a 5050z with the Olympus housing - amazing... It surpasses my
abilities anyhow.

The golden rule seems to be to be aware of the white balance though,
otherwise everything ends up green. I carry a white slate around and
periodically reset the balance on it - I have pics of the English channel
looking like Barbados..

Simon.
