Default Digital Photography

Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade from my Olympus C-920 and underwater housing. I
was looking to day at the Olympus C-5050 camera. Look spretty
impressive with it's underwater housing. Wondered if anyone has any
experience of it. Or even if anyone can reccomend another camera that
will give good results when printed up to A3.

Thanks

The UW housing from Olympus is good to 40 m but considering it only costs
130 quid its pretty good value, you can get a iklite one for about £500
which is good to about 50/60 m. With the Olympus you can get a strobe
package for about 250 - this isn't an Olympus strobe but a Époque.

If you want to know any more contact me

All the best

Slightly OT, but now that reasonable quality digitals are comming down in
price, has anyone investigated the cheapest option for a "cheapish" digital,
with houseing and strobe - at least then if you do flood you havent got a
hugely expensive camera wrecked.

I recently got a Olympus 4040 as was very chuffed to discover that
olympus do u/w housings for not a great deal of cash.

The next cheapest/best option could be the sony p-31/51 and u/w housing.
this is about £400 for a 4mp camera and 40mtr housing, which does seem
to be quite a steal.

There was a posting on this very topic just a couple of weeks ago.

I purchased a C4000Z Olympus (my friend bought an Olympus for land use, and
you really can't fault the picture quality)
I then purchase the housing for it.

Camera: £300
Housing: £200

Add a strobe for about £300 and you've got a great setup, that cost
significantly less then the nikon 801 & subal housing I flooded in the red
sea just before XMAS....Doh!!!

Well I guess with my original post I will have my Olympus C-920 and
the olympus underwater housing for sale. Ideally I'd like to get £200
for the pair. If anyone is interested.

Here are some taken yesterday at Branscombe with above mentioned kit.

The first in the series is
http://mysite.freeserve.com/branscombe2408/P1010002.jpg

Just replace the last digital to view the next in the sequence (I haven't
got time to make a photo album!)
i.e. http://mysite.freeserve.com/branscombe2408/P1010003.jpg
http://mysite.freeserve.com/branscombe2408/P1010004.jpg etc.

There's about 11 in the set.

I'm not sure what counts as "reasonable quality" or "cheapish digital" but
I've just bought a Canon A70 Powershot (3.2Mp) for £250 and I'm waiting for
the housing to arrive (£140). Strobe... err, I haven't thought about that
yet...

The MX-10 will be appearing on eBay shortly to fund the purchase of the
housing!
