Nope. You can't factor that in. I buy toys
for other reasons. You'll be factoring the
cost of re-concreting the patio where I park
the compressor into my fills next. Write the
CCR down over a couple of years in good book
keeping fashion - oh - it's a couple of years
old already. Well, I never have to pay for it
again.

I have gas here, I have kitty litter by the
keg. The object is to make diving easy as I
miss too many dives already. The advantage
with the turtle is that it will do any shaped
dive. The limiting factor is me, what I'm
trained for, what I feel dived up for and what
I can stand the trip out to.

I've just spent a week diving in very low vis
and I much prefer the CCR if I'm risking a buddy
seperation. If something breaks I have a drill
to manage it. I practice the drills to pass a
boring stop so they're all familier. With the
twins all I had was 'shutdown and pray nothing
else breaks'.

The point of the comment wa that you don't buy CCR to save money
but...

This is it for me, I have everything I need to go diving, I don't have
to rely on the dive shop near the quay to provide me with the means to
go diving. Therefore:

(i) I don't have to run around getting my cylinders filled at the end
of the day - if I need to change the litter, I grab the 5Kg tub and
fill it without having to leave the boat.

(ii) If I am on a day boat that doesn't pump gas, I don't have to save
gas from my first dive so I can get in for a second (I always found
this a problem with my twin 10's - might not be a problem for larger
cylinders)

(iii) If gas supply is difficult, I can take my own and decant without
having to charter a 40 ton artic.

(iv) As in Nigels comments, depending on the dive I am doing, I have
2 choices of dil. This is air or heliair. So if conditions change
the dive plan, I am good for anything.

LOL, i'll go with that.

I found that the biggest change when diving CCR was the I spent more
time the night before putting my unit together and checking that
everything is in order. Also you _have_ to clean it out properly when
you get back.
