Default PADI Tec Deep in the UK

OK, no comments on PADI and tech stuff - after all they do trimix now :)

Does anyone know of anyone in the UK who runs this course, and any
recommendations?

Thanks,
Simon

Is that a goer now? I heard rumours that they were thinking about it,
but found nothing on the websites.

Yes, it was mentioned in the last PADI Member news, after being announced
at the DEMA 2002 show.

Not sure if there are any UK instructors able to teach it yet though.

Wasn't that the Rec Tec course? I'm assuming the Tec Deep
is a trimix course, no?

Not according to the PADI website:

"After successful completion of the DSAT Tec Deep Diver course you'll be
able to conduct gas-switch extended no-decompression dives, decompression
dives and accelerated decompression dives using air and enriched air to a
depth of 50 metres/165 feet."

RecTec now seems to be the generic name for all the DSAT Tec courses.

I do not think so

the trimix one is "DSAT Tec Trimix Diver" & I have been told that it is
both very detailed (12 required dives) and comprehensive. However it was
a PADI Course Director who told me that.

From the PADI THIRD QUARTER Training Bulletin

DSAT Tec Trimix Diver course

As announced at the DEMA Show 2002, Tec Trimix Diver is the next course
for release in the DSAT TecRec series. This course is intended to extend
the depth range for technical divers qualified to use air, enriched air
and oxygen for technical decompression dives beyond 50 metres/165 feet.
The course includes training dives as deep as 75 metres/245 feet.
Student divers are trained to use open circuit scuba while breathing
various trimix blends, air, enriched air and oxygen.

Diver Prerequisites

Prerequisites for the DSAT Tec Trimix Diver course establish the
minimums for entering the course. You must ensure that the diver meets
the prerequisites through remedial work, if necessary, before starting
the course.

To enroll in a Tec Trimix course, divers must:

• Be certified as a PADI Rescue Diver or have a qualifying certification
from another organization (contact your PADI Office for information
about qualifying certifications).

• Provide proof of CPR and first aid training within the previous two
years.

• Be 18 years of age.

• Be certified as a DSAT Tec Deep Diver or have a qualifying
certification in deep decompression diving from another organization
(contact your PADI Office for information about qualifying
certifications).

• Have a minimum of 150 logged dives.

Divers who have a qualifying certification other than DSAT Tec Deep
Diver must read the entire DSAT Tec Deep Diver Manual and complete the
knowledge reviews prior to beginning the DSAT Tec Trimix Diver course.
