| Thanks guys. Not sure I'm much nearer an answer, don't know if I'm wiser but hey, it was a good ride while it lasted. My intuative 'feel' is that I would lose some learning experience moving to CCR before experiencing a twinset although I'm not sure if it's a necessary learning experience. (TerryH - it was a hypothetical question, I'm not a keep up with the Jones' type of guy - hey I dive with a cable-tied, bungeed wing and bright yellow harness, I recon that says it all! LOL. Being gay I have been in the minority all my life, I'm not about to become a sheep now!) All I'm interested in is taking the best / easiest path. I don't want to go down the route of a twinset, only to change over to a CCR the following year. At present, with my (very) limited experience, I don't have a desire to dive much more than 30ish mtrs (a coward at heart) but would consider twins for both redundancy and longer dive times. I suppose, with this in mind, what are the advantages / disadvantages of each. Will the experience of diving with twins make me a better diver than if I'd gone straight to CCR? Is CCR the future of diving (For me, the closer I can get to any marine life, the better!)? Who knows! But thanks for the replies, they were thought provoking. Nick x |

For diving in the 30m area a CCR is going to give you longer time in the water, less worries about consumption, lighter kit, less decompression and get you closer to the wildlife. Overall a CCR is about 1000% nicer than twin-set diving. Cheers Matt. |
