Default FAO: Nigel - any chance of any Ali backplate?

Hey Nigel - any chance of getting an aluminium version of your Combro
backplate made? I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to rig up a
'warm water' rig for holiday diving!

You are certainly not the first one to ask. I hoping that he will
fold and make my custom backplate for my Inspo. I don't hold out much
hope though

Nope. There are perfectly good ones at a sensible price.
There is no sense me putting my guys out to do one virtually
at cost if you don't see a serious price drop.

This whole lark started when I walked round the London dive
Show and refused to pay 200 quid.

But yours is better, Nigel!

I'm sure I'm not the only one who would happily pay the same price you
charge for the steel backplate for an aluminium copy!

Fair enough, though, mate - I can quite understand your reasons for not
wanting to bother with ali...

Yeah - I know that feeling! Just looked at the Halcyon ali backplate with
pre-rigged harness and I don't understand how for the life of me they get
away with their prices! I guess the type of people who buy Halcyon pay for
the name!

*ouch* okay, okay - looks like I'm buying a DiveRite backplate! Thanks for
the info, Zak...

How much were you quoted? Divers Warehouse have the OMS ones for
56 quid on their website and I would guess that you could probably
get it down to less than 50 quid at a dive show.

Or you can get a DR plate for less than £40

Iain
