| Hi, After a new torch. Needs to be easily transportable for holidays, so an umbilical isn't really an option Will be used for UK diving as well, so sensible burn time needed. Don't mind if it's batteries or recharchable. Dived with a guy who a had a technisub rechachable, black aluminium thing if I remember, thoughts? Ta -- Nige remove SUNGLASSES to reply |

I have the smaller of: http://www.customdivers.com/hid_lighting_systems_6.htm Expensive though )-: Or you want hand-held: http://www.customdivers.com/hid_hand_held.html But for holiday abroad, where I presume you are diving in clear, warm waters, do you need anything this big? (Night dives, I guess, but my Mini Q40's been suitable for the tropical stuff I've done!) Gordon |

I haven't yet and I don't think it's going to look too good on the X-ray. The other problem with the CD torch for holidays is that the charger is 240v only. Basically, they're a very versatile oiption, and if you wanna change the torch, you don't have to replace the whole thing, just add new bits. Mechano! |

The UK D4 has good reviews and is about £50 at most stores. You can pay extra for the rechargable version aswell. The rechargable version is identical but comes with an extra higher power bulb in addition to the standard and a rechargable battery and charger. If you are going abroad you can therefore still use it with normal D batteries. |

I've been looking for a torch too, and the main problem I see with the greenforce is its one of the types where the watertight seal is also the switch - turn it off a bit too far, or turn it the wrong way, and you've flooded your expensive torch! With a £15 backup torch thats not much of a problem, but if I was paying £00's for a torch i'd want a bit more of a sophisticated switch. David |
